Amateur Carpenters take on the Boat Build Challenge of a Lifetime

We're diving headfirst into a significant challenge this week in our sailboat restoration project: rebuilding the head for the second time. Brace yourself, because it's going to be quite the battle! As amateur carpenters, crafting the bathroom in our boat's interior has been our most formidable test thus far. The burning question: Can we conquer this task entirely on our own?

The first time we ventured into constructing the head (bathroom) for our sailboat, we teamed up with experts to digitally design our boat. We utilized cutting-edge CNC technology to meticulously carve out each piece. There was a prevailing sense that the interior build would be a breeze – not only due to the boat's size but also the high-tech tools at our disposal. However, as we soon discovered, a smaller boat doesn't necessarily equate to an easier design. Quite the opposite, in fact!

Without the ability to flawlessly scan the boat, our manual measurements fell short, leading to an improperly installed design. The result left much to be desired, particularly when it came to the finishing touches and maintenance. So, we regrouped and decided to temporarily set aside the head, hoping for clearer minds and a more refined approach.

Now, we're gearing up to confront this looming design dilemma once more. We're determined to salvage whatever we can before diving into some ambitious ideas that go beyond what the CNC machine could accomplish on its own.
