Unboxing our 25 hp ELECTRIC MOTOR by Torqeedo

We are continuing our boat restoration project and electric boat conversion with unboxing our electric motor from Torqeedo. Our boat building goals are to create an electric sailboat to live aboard and sailing around the world. This is one of the top reasons we choose to purchase a steel hull. Steel is incredibly easy to modify and customize. And that is exactly what we needed to do in order to fit our new Torqeedo electric boat motor, by removing the original shaft drive propeller and diesel engine.

To power our boat we chose a Torqeedo Pod Drive Cruise 12.0 FP TorqLink. This motor is a high-efficiency pod motor (fixed) that is 25 hp equivalent. It is made for sailboats up to 12 tons which is plenty of power for our estimated 6-7 ton sailboat.
