SEASON 2 // EPISODE 69

Description

Our salvage sailboat started off this journey with a worn-out diesel motor that we swiftly removed to kickstart the remodel of the stern in our boat restoration project. Along the way, we encountered a few unexpected hurdles, but one thing remained clear: the rebuild of our cockpit was always part of the plan. We envisioned a more spacious layout with ample storage and a raised cockpit deck to create additional room below deck for a designated machine room. What was once inaccessible and wasted space will now serve as the power hub for our electric boat conversion.

With meticulous planning underway, progress may be slow as we carefully measure and strategize how to fit eight 160-volt lithium batteries into a space with sloping sides. But it doesn't stop there – we also need to accommodate plumbing for discharges, wire it for lighting, install throttle controls, shore power plugs, and all the necessary devices for our electric motor, among other considerations.

This step is crucial, as the completion of our machine room marks the beginning of the permanent installation phase and sets the stage for outfitting the rest of the interior in our sailboat.
